Tea for Me

I was very spoiled over Xmas, and finally used one of Tracy's gifts to me - an Adagio tea set. It came with a really cool teapot that lets you steep tea leaves, then drain the tea (not pour) into a mug from the bottom. I really like the flavours she got me, and have had the vanilla and gingerbread so far. Yum!

I also made Penne with Butternut Squash and Pesto - a 5-ingredient recipe from January 2007's issue of Vegetarian Times. I had some leftover pesto from making Isa Pizza late last week, so I decided to use it in this quick recipe with frozen onions and frozen butternut squash. It was OK - but found it lacked oomph. One of my three new year's resolutions this year is to avoid adding salt on a ready-to-eat meal, so perhaps I found it lacked flavour for that reason. The whole avoiding-the-salt-shaker thing is going to be very hard for me, but it should be worthwhile.

That pasta looks insanely delicious. I've become more of a tea lover since I'ev been vegan. I used to be a coffeeholic.

Happy B'day!

Hey, Happy Birthday!

I agree that it's hard to give up/go easy on the salt. In the last few months, I've largely stopped adding salt when I'm cooking... so that we can just sprinkle a little on top. It seems to work pretty well.

I love the tea mug! I'm drinking a cup of tea right now. :)

I have to agree with Amey. I don't add salt to my cooking and then just add a little sprinkle on top before eating it.

Happy birthday! (belated) I agree that of all the things to cut back on, I really don't want to let go of salt!

And I *love* those tea things- what a great thing. The first time someone demonstrated to me how the tea whooshes in your cup, I was so intrigued!
